Hello readers! This month I took some time off Instagram and tried focusing on reading and studying more about the books we want to share with you all this month. I began reading Braiding Sweetgrass early in the Summer. I took my time and finished last week, and reading it was a healing experience for me. It served as a companion. It feels cheesy to say that it changed my life but it honestly did. Before reading it I couldn’t handle having a conversation about climate change or nature that didn’t leave me in despair. I didn’t have the language and hope to know where to even start with understanding our relationship to life on this planet. Now I can feel this want inside me to connect to this green Earth and the living things here. As a young person all I could remember was that I was born into this world where everyone says that we are at the end of, where we inherited climate change and with it the normalization of species extinction, that there was never any hope.
